Ask a librarian.
Do you have questions about World War 2 Hawai'i?
I have received so many emails asking questions about World War 2 that I decided to answer questions in a monthly post.
I’m not promising I’ll have the answer to your question. If I don’t or can’t find it (like the Honolulu Lithograph Company), I’ll direct you to resources to help you find it.
The most common question I get is where I did/do my research. Well, the bulk of it is at the Hawaii War Records Depository at the University of Hawai‘i’s Hamilton Library Archives. In fact, when my husband and I were working on the Images of America, Hawaii World War 2 book, we even had our own dedicated cart for a bit.
To access the records, go to the Manuscript Collections page and follow the link to Hawaii War Records Depository.
Beware, you can fall down that rabbit hole for hours, days, months, even years.
So, if you have a question, email me.
Beaches, Brothels and Barbed Wire will always be a free newsletter. If you’d like to support my work, you can visit Barnes and Noble, or any other online or independent book store to purchase and review my books.
The most recent ones are: Code Name Rascal and Hawaii World War 2, Images of America.

No signing, but I'll be at the February Book Festival at the Hawaii State Library downtown. It's on February 21.
Thank you for sharing the fruits of your labors. I'm hoping you will be planning a signing session soon for your books!
